LEARNING FROM PANELLING ART
As I continue to work through layout and scripting, it turns out I’m learning so much just through the process. And how I feel grateful since if it weren’t for this process, I would be missing a lot. The messy part has been unlearning perfection. My first layouts were stiff, like I was afraid of making mistakes. But comics thrive on movement and experimentation. Now my pages are full of arrows, scribbled notes, and crossed-out dialogues. It looks chaotic, yet that chaos is where the story actually starts to live. I’ve also discovered how much empathy goes into this process. When I write a scene, I have to step into each character’s shoes-what are they hiding, what are they afraid to say, what would they never admit? The layouts then become a stage for those feelings. Close-ups for secrets, wide shots for loneliness, silent panels for things too loud to speak. As of now, I have completed 10 + pages of drafts and will be continuing further. I plan speeding up the process and complete the drafts as soon as possible. Thank you and see ya next time!
